Here at Beeston Shenton, we like to get involved in the local community as much as possible, providing valuable support wherever we can. This time, our very own managing director Russell Dutton is donating his time and energy to raise money for a local charity, The Donna Louise, running a half marathon to raise funds.
What Is The Donna Louise?
The Donna Louise is a children’s and young people’s hospice based in Staffordshire. They provide help to families in Staffordshire and Cheshire whose children are sick with life-threatening or life ending conditions. Their main mission is to support every single member of the family, every step of the way from initial diagnosis right through until help is no longer needed. Opening their doors to families in 2003, they have been providing accessible high-quality palliative care services ever since. The work which they deliver is treasured by the local communities and rightly so.
Russell is a keen runner, who began with the couch to 5K app a few years ago. Since then, he has ran 97 park runs and numerous events for various charities. With this training on his side, he is running a half marathon to raise money for The Donna Louise. Taking place on 25th April 2021 in Tatton Park, this is his longest timed competition event yet.
In preparation for the event, he is collecting donations via JustGiving for this wonderful charity. With a goal of 5K, he wants to raise this mega sum of money as it’s an ultimate personal challenge for him, running double the distance of what Russell has ran before in a timed situation.
